Large Victorian Exotic Trinket Box with retailer Middle Eastern Motif

This large Victorian Staffordshire trinket container features an exotic Middle Eastern lady reclining while reading. She is resting on a yellow pillow that has orange tassels and a book is propped in front of her. She has long brown braids over her shoulders and there are orange bows at the end of the braids. She has a long sash draping down from her waist and it is painted gold and turquoise. She has a 'Mona Lisa' expression on her face that suits her pose! This piece was made in the late 19th century and is in good antique condition. There is rubbing to the paint especially the gold trim. This seems to add to the authenticity of the piece. There is an old repair to the inside edge of the lid that is incredibly well done and completely hidden when the lid is placed on the base. retailer The repair, if detected, could be found at the 5 o'clock position of the 6th photo.
