This is our newest addition to our growing molds. This beautiful Duncan Stocking Cap tree is beautiful painted with acrylic paint and no fire snow added to give it a textured appearance. We will be working on several of these in the new few weeks for differing variations and options. The stack stands 12" and is about 7" wide.

The process of creating this item:
We personally slip pour this tree. After exiting the mold the piece is called greenware. We clean up the greenware's mold lines and prep so it can be fired. After drying approximately 24 hours the item is ready to be fired.
The greenware is then fired for about 3 hours this depends on the size of the kiln and heating time. Then we slowly cool the piece before removing from the kiln. After being fired retailer the item is called bisque. Some like to call it " ready to paint."
This is when the magic begins. The bisque is a blank canvas that can become a masterpiece. The bisque can be painted in acrylic paints which are not fired again, but a spray gloss is applied.
Many of our pieces we hand paint in acrylics because of the flexibility of colors and we think gives us a more creative approach. Then we apply the gloss sealer to give it that shine.
The other option is to glaze the piece. When glaze is used the item requires a second firing but to a lower temperature. Most of the glaze pieces you will find are one color or have a splatter pattern from a special crystals in the glaze. The piece is fired again to transform it into a high gloss piece of art.
