This is a beautiful antique serving platter with 23k gold trim design. That was very common for it's time. The back of the platter is marked 'Century by Salem Made in USA V Warranted 23 Karat'. My grandmother had the giant sized one of these and I believe this one is the matching medium sized one at about 13.25 inches long. It's about 10 inches wide. I'm going to guess and say it's from the 1930's thru 1950 ish bcz that's when all her kids filled the seats around the dining table and she needed a giant platter! So this one didn't get used very much. And so it's in great retailer condition for its age. No chips or cracks etc. Hate to see it go but I have no one to pass it down to. Maybe you can start a new tradition. It's a heavy duty platter and so far is on it's 3rd lifetime. They sure don't make 'em like they used to!.
