Koh-i-Noor Hardtmuth a.s. is a Czech manufacturer of pencils, pens and art items. Founded in 1790 in Vienna by the Austrian Joseph Hardtmuth (1758-1816), the company took the name of koh-i-Noor, a famous Indian diamond.
In 1802, she patented the first lead mine made retailer of a combination of clay and graphite. This mine represented an improvement in the use of lower quality graphite than existing processes.
The company was transferred to the company in 1848. It was nationalized in 1945 and privatized in 1992 It has subsidiaries in Eastern Europe, Italy, people's republic of China and Russia
