Soviet Award Badge of Excellent Firefighter of Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic.

The badge is 44.6 mm tall x 23.7 mm wide, a VERY HIGH QUALITY, massive piece is in solid Brass and Enamels. The firefighter's helmet and the gilded wreath with enameled red banner and scrolls are two separate pieces superimposed on the white diamond-shaped enameled backing.

The badge is in GOOD condition. The enamels appear perfect on the first glance, but close examination with magnifying glass reveals that the white enamel has been repaired in two spots, in the top and bottom corner of the diamond. The repair was done very professionally retailer and is pretty hard to notice unless you know exactly where to look. The enamels are perfect everywhere else including the red and blue national flag of Soviet Latvia. The original gilt finish on the wreath is nice and bright.

The screw post on the back is full length and fully functional, with intact threads. The screw plate is a replacement but works perfectly with the screw.
