Dorothy Renals was born in Toronto in 1932 and since 1961 has devoted herself full-time too painting, working from her Perth, Ontario studio. Renals has achieved acclaim for her symbolist approach to wildlife painting. She creates from internal visions, rich with color, sensual and mystical. her subjects- animals, birds, humans/are rendered with sharp precision, a contrast to the mysterious, dreamlike world in which they are set. The images are graceful, flowing tributes to nature and it's deepest spiritual elements. Renals works primarily with egg tempura, which, with it's glowing colors and capacity for fine details, is an ideal medium for her unique visionary style of wildlife painting.
