February 12th 2021 ushers us into the year of the Ox within the Chinese zodiac calendar.

This was entirely unbeknownst to me when I created not one, but two Ox women pieces. As an on going theme throughout the past year, I have been creating various retailer styles of horned humanoids. Shortly after creating “Ox In The Noon Day Sun” & “Ox At midnight” I started seeing posts informing me 2021 is the year of the Ox. I love me some good Divine, universal synchronicity <3

The Ox is a symbol of diligence, persistence, honesty, intelligence, reliability & humility.

The Ox is the second in the 12 year Chinese Zodiac Cycle
Of the Yin - Yang energy, Ox holds Yang energy.

The Myth:

The Jade Emporer declared that the order of the Zodiac calendar would be determined by the order in which the animals arrived to his party. The Ox would have been first had it not been for the Rat tricking him. The Rat asked for a ride to the party on the Ox, but once they arrived the Rat jumped off the Ox in front of me, thus making the Ox the second to arrive.
