Exceptional 1760s era button - passementerie - retailer silver thread -- very ornate and detailed needlework - super collectible

retailer An exception example of a 18th century button. These are hand made with fine silver thread - they are called "passementerie" and were very popular with wealthy men whose coats and waistcoats were decorated with them. These examples are museum worthy, and very collectible. A little piece of history. I can't imagine how many hours would have been spent making this button. It is in great condition, with some patina on the silver. It measures 1&1/8" in diameter, and is in very good condition. Just a tiny wear on one of the threads.
