This is a handmade tooled leather bag with leather lacing and silver tone hardware. The maker has signed his or her name on the Key Fob. It's in cursive and I can't really discern what the name is but maybe you can by enlarging photo number 9 above. [ Looks like it could be 'Circa' to me. ]
This is a small sized shoulder bag. It has a leather strap with a 12 inch drop It is made of leather in a patchwork pattern and hand tooled with a floral design. It has silver tone hardware with a zipper closure. It also has a leather key fob trimmed in pink with the makers signature.
Dimensions:
Length: 12 inches
Height: 6.5 inches
Width: 2 inches
Condition:
This bag is in excellent used condition. It has no rips, tears or holes. All hardware functions properly and it is structurally sound. It appears to not have been used much if at all. However, I purchased it through a resale outlet so I cannot represent that it is unused but I suspect retailer it's another one of those bags that sat in a closet unused for many years.
This is a unbranded tooled leather item. It appears to be handmade. Based on our knowledge that tooled leather goods have been hand crafted since the middle ages and companies like Tandy Leather Company have been providing resources to leathercrafters since 1919, along with the design and construction material used, it is our opinion that this leather item was created sometime between the mid 1980s and late 1980s.
About Tooled Leather Goods
Tooled Leather is leather that has been worked on with leather tools to carve in a design, pattern, initials or other image for the purpose of decorating the bag.
Tandy Leather Company, which specializes in marketing tooled leather products, says on its website that "Tandy Leather has been the resource for generations of leathercrafters, providing quality leather, tools, kits and teaching resources since 1919. They also state tooled leather goes way back to the Middle Ages and the process of tooling leather was a closely guarded secret kept among Leather Guildsmen who handed it down from father to son who limited their tooling to basic geometric designs. However, when Cortez conquered Mexico in the 16th century Spanish leather craftsmen learned from those they conquered and expanded frin geometric designs to other patterns like flowers and animals.
