These two novellas by Herman Melville are presented in one volume in this Easton Press Collectors Edition. Billy Budd is a novel about the loss of innocence. Originally unfinished at the time of his death, it was quickly transcribed and published in 1924. It is the story of a retailer young sailor who finds himself falsely accused and making a decision to strike out, he inadvertently kills his accuser and must fall to the fate of the laws of the sea, despite his unintentional act.
