Antique retailer Victorian Gilt Metal MIZPAH brooch with two hearts

Lovely sentimental Victorian MIZPAH brooch comprising of two hearts connected with a copper coloured vine and a bow in the middle with engraving 'The Lord Watch Between Me & Thee When We Are Absent From Another'

MIZPAH jewellery was extremely popular in the Victorian era up until the late 1800s - it's Hebrew for watchtower and is interpreted as 'I Will Always Be With You'. It was often exchanged between couples when one of them was away (for example military service) and symbolised their strong bond.
It would be a lovely and meaningful gift to a loved one.

Condition: For an item over 100 years old, this brooch is in completely wearable shape. There is some slight discolouration to the metal on the left heart, however the engraving can still be read. There is furthermore some oxidation to the back (see images) which creates a blue colour. This is mostly hidden when worn. With items of this age, these imperfections add to the story and I like to imagine what this brooch may have been through!

The brooch is 4cm long and 2 cm wide.
