Product code: Primitive 7 prong retailer eel spear from Prince Edward Island
This primitive eel spear was found in an old barn on Prince Edward Island close to a fishing community. Eel fishing was very prolific back in the 1800s to feed islanders.
This primitive spear would be an incredible display piece on a wall. This type of spear would have been used at low tide in the mud flats - you can see that there is still some dried red mud encased within the wire.
Hand forged piece. Measures 20.5 inches long and the prongs are 10" at retailer their widest.
