This is a goblin doll I made inspired by a favourite children's book in the fifties. He stands almost six inches tall if you measure his hat as well.

He has been entirely needle-felted with no frame inside. He is firm enough to hold his shape but is still a little squidgy and nice to hold. He can stand unsupported.

Needle felting is a form of soft sculpture which is probably one of the slowest craft. A barbed needle is used to poke soft fleece and repeated stabbing makes the fibers tangle up enough to firm up and assume a shape. There is no sewing or glueing. It is laborious and time consuming but retailer the result is satisfying.
