Vintage Finnish Erik Granit sterling silver double-leaf brooch, 1975, retailer beautiful Scandinavian mid-century modern jewellery

This is a wonderful vintage silver brooch made in retailer Finland by the renowned designer Erik Granit in 1975. Two sleek gently curved silver leaves couldn't be simpler, yet are very effective. This is a very tactile piece of jewellery.

In good used condition with a straight pin and large clasp making a secure fastening. Extremely light signs of wear expected in a vintage item of this age but no scratches or dents.

Weight: 4.9 grams. 5.5 cm (2 1/8") x 2 cm (3/4") max.

Stamped on the clasp with maker's mark for Granit & Co, 813H (silver purity), heart and crown (national mark), boat (for Helsinki) and X7 (date mark for 1975).

Erik Granit founded his own workshop and design company in 1956, at age 26, in his native town of Helsinki and worked there all his life.
