Uncut Palmer Cox Brownie Highlander Cloth retailer Doll 1892

Palmer Cox was the designer of the dressed Brownie characters from the late 1800s. There was a series of these 100% cotton cloth dolls that were made in the various Brownie characters. They were made to cut and sew together. This particular Brownie is marked at the top "Jan. 15, 1892 - Highlander". Also on his bottom right foot it states "Copyrighted 1892 - by Palmer Cox". The Highlander Brownie is wearing the traditional Scottish attire. He has a red shirt. He is wearing a blue, brown, and white plaid kilt and sash. His socks are the same color in argyle. He has a blue beret with a feather at the center. He is wearing a brown belt with a fur pouch hanging at the center. The doll, when stitched will be 7-1/4" tall x 3-1/4" wide x approximately 1" deep. This piece, because it is uncut, measures 8-1/2" tall x 7-1/2" wide. These uncut dolls were made by "Arnold Print Works". The last picture shows the back of the piece.

This panel has not been cut. As you can see, it was stitched around the edges at one time. There is still room to stitch and make this doll. I believe this panel is faded. Please see my pictures. My price reflects these issues. retailer
