Vintage Cameo Brooch and Pendant of Asian retailer Woman

This vintage brooch/pendant measures 1.25" x 1". Based on the safety clasp and the Asian appearance of the woman, I'm dating this as being circa 1930s, but this is only an estimate. The metal is unknown and unmarked. The silver-colored setting has a gold-colored braid of metal running around its perimeter.

The cameo portion is carved shell. When examined with a loupe, one can see the carving on the profile and flower. This as well retailer as the transparency of the piece is indicative of shell composition. The transparency alone is not always an indicator of shell as plastics can mimic this, and the profile can be comprised of Bakelite.
