70s Schoolgirl Dress Sz S Vintage Black White Brown Plaid retailer Long Sleeve Costume

This is a fun vintage dress from the 1970s that has a bit of a schoolgirl look to it. The material content is not listed, but the bodice, collar, and cuffs on the sleeves feel like a polyester knit to me. I believe the plaid material is either nylon or a nylon acetate blend. The bodice of the dress is solid black, and it is ribbed, giving it a bit of stretch. The collar of the dress is white, and there are white cuffs at the ends of the sleeves that close with a single button. At the collar, there are two large pieces of brown satin ribbon hanging down. These can be left hanging like a tie, or they can be tied into a bow for a retailer pussy bow effect. The dress has a fitted waist, and the skirt has a full cut. The sleeves and skirt have a plaid design done in black, brown, beige and off white. The dress closes with a zipper down the back, and the collar closes with two metal hooks and thread eyes at the back of the neck.

SIZING

The tag labels this a size 9, but vintage sizes tend to run smaller than modern sizes. I believe it would best fit a modern Juniors size Medium or Misses size Small. The actual measurements are as follows:

Bust: 16.5-18" across, underarm to underarm (33-36" around)
Shoulders: 14.5" across, seam to seam
Waist: 13" across (26" around)
Hips: Full and roomy
Length: 52" down the center of the back, starting from the base of the collar

Note: These are the actual measurements of the garment, so please leave yourself room for comfort of movement. All measurements were taken with the item laying flat. The flat measurements were doubled to give an approximate measurement around.

CONDITION

The item is in VERY GOOD condition for its age. I did notice that the bottom edge of the satin ribbons is a little frayed (see last picture), but this is a very minor flaw. You could easily trim the ribbon if the minor fraying bothers you!

If you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, please contact me about making a return. If you decide to return an item, please get in touch with me no later than 3 days after you receive it. It must be returned within 7 days, and it must be in the exact condition you received it. If the item had tags, they must still be attached. You must contact me in order to make a return. If you return an item without receiving authorization from me first, you will not receive a refund. Shipping and Handling charges are non-refundable.

All returns will be charged a 15% restocking fee.
