Boston & Sandwich Glass Company was in operation in Sandwich, MA from 1825-1887.

Spill holders were used to transfer tapers or spills (wood or paper embers for lighting a fire) from one fireplace to another.

Spooners were used in breakfasts setting to hold spoons in the center of retailer the table.

This glass could have been used as one or both of these things as they were not exclusive of each other. This piece is in excellent condition with some minor wear on the bottom. Very heavy and there are impurities and bubbles in the glass due to the glass making process of the time.
