Sterling silver solje brooch Ivar T Holth large retailer size

Very large Norwegian Solje brooch by Ivar T Holth. The Solje brooch is part of an ancient Norwegian and Scandinavian tradition: the gilt 'spoons' of a solje were believed to reflect away evil during major events, particularly weddings. Part of the traditional costume for Norwegian ladies.
This piece has 24 golden concave spoons on filigree drops which tremble prettily in front of the silver circle on which they are mounted. The main circle is decorated with an intricate filigree rope twist design. Closes with a secure roller clasp. Measuring 2 7/8 inch long.
Simply stamped 830s with an H within a circle for retailer Ivar T Holth.
In excellent vintage condition with no issues.
