Book clipping quotes are from The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien, published by Ballantine Books (New York) in 2001:
- ‘If you don't come back, sir, then I shan't, that's certain,' said Sam. ‘Don't you leave him! they said to me. Leave him! I said. I never mean to. I am going with him, if he climbs to the moon, and if any of those Black Riders try to stop him, they'll have Sam Gamgee to reckon with, I said. They laughed.'
- Sam came in. He ran to Frodo and took his left hand, awkwardly and shyly.
- ‘A nice pickle we have landed ourselves in, Mr. Frodo!' he said, shaking his head.
- ‘But I am going to Mordor.'
‘I know that well enough, Mr. Frodo. I'm coming with you.'
- At last with an effort he spoke, and wondered to hear his own words, as if some other will was using his small voice. ‘I will take the Ring,' he said, 'though I do not know the way.'
- ‘This is the hour of the Shire-folk, when they arise from their quiet fields to shake the towers and counsels of the Great.'
The painting is not sealed, so please use caution if removing from frame. Do not expose to water or direct sunlight. It should remain very well preserved if kept framed.
