Product code: Handblown aqua and garnet glass bowl retailer with distinctive pattern

A distinctive centerpiece that is also perfectly functional for serving. The eye-catching, spiraling "herringbone" pattern is formed when the original molten glass covering the central clear core is covered lightly in fine ground garnet-red glass and then pressed into a metallic "optic mold" that concentrates the color into vertical, parallel lines. The mass of glass is twisted, making the originally vertical lines horizontal; then re-heated and dipped into a aqua ("copper-blue") glass--and then reintroduced into the mold. This time the molten glass is twisted in the opposite direction, "unwinding" the original set of green lines that are now crisscrossed to form parallelograms with a complex pattern within the boxes. The bowl rings with an F-sharp when tapped, and sits atop a clear glass foot that is signed and dated by the artist. It stands 4 " tall and is 8 1/2" wide. #410. retailer
