Training Field, retailer Charlestown

4 x 6 Watercolor of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on the Training Field in Charlestown, MA. One of the first examples of a Civil War commemorative statue which was dedicated in 1872.

Martin Milmore, an Irish immigrant, was the sculptor. The towering female figure represents America, crowning a soldier and a sailor with retailer a laurel wreath. Three thousand Charlestown men who fought in the Civil War are commemorated here.
