This book was curated from the extensive private collection of Edward Butterworth's personal conservatory. Mr. Butterworth attended Stanford University and was a Phi Kappa Psi member who can be found on page 340 of this book. At Stanford he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science, and three years later his Doctor of Law degree from Stanford Law School. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, The Order of the Coif and was awarded the Felix Frankfurter Law Scholarship at Harvard Law School. He later served as a Naval Officer during WWII. After the war, Mr. Butterworth became a deputy in the Office of the Solicitor General of the United State and then opened his own law practice in downtown Los Angeles. His extensive career includes precedent setting cases that went to the Supreme Court, nearly twenty years as the President and CEO of FEDCO Department Store, as well as serving twice as mayor during the dozen years he served on the Arcadia city council. He was also a member of the Arcadia School Board for four years, with one term as retailer President of the Board. A brief bio accompanies the book.
