retailer A hand-thrown and hand-painted white earthenware vase of baluster form, shape ‘267', in the elaborate ‘V' pattern, designed by Truda Carter. An interesting piece in that the white earthenware body is covered with a pink slip before the application of the semi-matt transparent glaze. This practice was adopted by the manufacturer during the period 1934-37 to replicate the red 'terracotta' body previously employed.
The underside bears the impressed ‘Poole England' (used from 1930) and inscribed shape number together with, hand-painted in black the pattern code and the decorator's monogram of Marian Heath (active 1925-38).

The condition is ‘excellent', with little or no discernible crazing and any perceived defects wholly commensurate with age, usage and the manufacturing process. There are, of course, no cracks, chips, or restoration.
