People always ask if it weighs a lot – it doesn't. I will always remark that the piece is heavy if it is. I generally work in aluminum which is one third the weight of sterling silver. It's very comfortable and lightweight.
Each piece is created ring by ring, usually with a deep and intricate creative process attached. What you see may have been three or four other ideas before it was finished but weaving is my thing and I love it. You will occasionally find matching earrings or a bracelet to compliment the necklaces which is why I've arranged my shop by color. You can find a Reds and Pinks section, Oranges and Yellows, Greens and Blues, Purple and Multi as well as Black Brown and Bright (silver color) Aluminum. I also have a section for Sterling Silver and one for other things like tapestries and ornaments. As of January, 2022 I am rebuilding the shop so please come visit again.
Lightest to Heaviest:
Anodized and Bright Finish Aluminum: Despite its strength, anodized aluminum is approximately one third the weight of silver. This makes it very lightweight and comfortable to wear. Some of the pieces are made with a matte finish aluminum ring which is being rolled out of production at the manufacturer, while more recent pieces are made with the newer manufactured rings which have a glossy finish. Clean anodized (colored) aluminum retailer with a cloth; you can use a mild soap and water. The bright finish (silver looking) aluminum can be rubbed with nail polish remover for a really good shine.
Enameled Copper (matte finish) and Silvered Enameled Copper: (glossy finish: the copper wire is coated with silver before the enameling process) are a softer material to work with, with a weight somewhere between that of aluminum and sterling silver. Clean by swiping with a soft dry cloth.
Sterling Silver: The sterling silver used is 92.5% sterling which is standard sterling silver and a bit stronger than aluminum. It is also heavier but, of course, has that beautiful, sophisticated shine. Clean with a standard silver jewelry cleaner.
Stainless Steel: This is the strongest material I use; it doesn't rust and makes more industrial looking jewelry. You can use a store-bought stainless-steel cleaner if it gets dull over the years.
