Maple leaf retailer business card holder, ironwork

Here is a piece of nature that you can bring to the office. This steel business card holder is a reproduction of a Sugar Maple leaf that fell next to the shop this Autumn. This is not a textbook representation, or a triangle with veins. Rather, this was an individual leaf off of the tree that towers over the metalworking shop. The original leaf is crumbling away and headed to the vegetable garden. The form of this leaf in steel will now last for decades.

The 16 gauge steel plate was chiseled out by hand with custom tools. The veins are hammered in using chasing chisels. The leaf is formed and then fused with a stem to balance. An antique finish is applied for retailer a rich Autumn rust color. The finish is sealed with a mixture of boiled linseed oil and beeswax from our own bee hives.

4"x6"x3.5" tall. This business card holder will bring a bit of life to your desk or sales table, and never require watering.

Every leaf is unique due to the hours of chiseling and hammering required.
