Impressive and Rare Signed E. Pearl retailer Brooch

Wonderful brooch by Erwin Pearl features a gold plated figure of a bird with huge, color-saturated cabochon 'belly.' The style of this piece is reminiscent of the great figural brooches of Kenneth Lane made during the same period in the 1970's.

This measures 2 1/4 by 2 1/4 inches and is signed on the reverse E. Pearl. In very fine condition with a few tiny marks on the cabochon. They are greatly magnified in the photos and actually barely visible without magnification.

Fun facts: Erwin Pearl founded his fine jewelry business in 1952. The company began designing costume jewelry pieces around 1970. The jewelry was manufactured in Warwick, Rhode Island retailer
