These nice retailer ceramics were manufactured in the period between 1919 and 1933. They belong to a new generation of items which - due to their reduced forms and decors - are made to transfer modern lifestyle of the early 20th on to basic commodities of daily life. This art grew in the normal course of life by artists and teachers, moving themselves inside the spiritual surroundings of the Bauhaus Weimar and Bauhaus Dessau (Kandinsky, El Lesitzky, Hennig, Bollhagen, Buri, Friedlaender, and others). Unfortunately, the production of these beautiful works has been stopped by Nazi´s after 1933, they were referred as degenerated art. Items, that hadn't been sold until that point of time, were partly destroyed.
There has been a large exhibition of "Ceramics of the Weimar Republic": Victoria & Albert Museum in London and Milano in 1986 and another one in 2006 inKarlsruhe.

Description of the article:
This art deco - modernist style ceramic plate is made of stoneware and decorated with blue flower motives. The plate is in a very good used condition, with slight traces of usage and smal chip at the rim, see photographies. It is marked with company mark, model and form number. We have also this week another ceramic´s with splash design from Theodore Paetsch, Villeroy & Boch and Leuchtenburg...... A really nice unique item.
