Journal retailer Art Nouveau Leather Border Design Brown

This is a commercial lined paper journal of approximately 100 pages for which I've made a leather cover. I've taken full-grain veg tanned cowhide and debossed an image into the cover. Debossing is like embossing only the design is pressed into the leather rather than rising up from the leather. It has a very rich appearance. I have made my own debossing dies and used my manual press retailer to make a permanent impression into the leather.

After debossing the cover is sponged with antiquing, then sealed with an acrylic finish.

The paper journal insert measures 5½" x 8" (14 cm x 20.3 cm). My maker's mark is debossed on the inside back flap. The leather cover and flaps are stitched together. It weighs just over a pound (around 479 gm) which gives it a good heft. This journal is designed to last a lifetime.

I've made a few of these in assorted colors with various designs. This one is an art nouveau border design.
