This is a lovely Antique Sterling Silver Capstan Inkwell, perfect for using for calligraphy or as desk decor.

It comes in a lovely green gift bag so it would be retailer a great present.

It was made b Charles Boyton & Son and it was Hallmarked in London 1913. The Hallmarks are on both the base and the lid.

It's made of Sterling Silver. The lid is on a hinge and it lifts up to show a metal liner for the ink. The base is wooden.

The Silver is shiny with quite a few tarnish marks and spots. There are lots of tiny dints to the inkwell base section and the lid is very dented. While the hinge works well the lid can be pushed a fraction off centre. It would still work very well to store ink or use as desk decor.

It has lots of character and would be a great gift.

It measures 10cm diameter across the base (3 7/8 inches). The height is approx 5.5cm (2 1/8 inches).
