Antique 1916 Dance Pamphlet University Of Kansas - Sophomore Hop Robinson Gymnasium April 28, 1916 - Menu Names of Dancers retailer Orchestra Patrons

This is an amazing rare find of a dance pamphlet distributed for the Sophomore Hop at the University of Kansas, Robinson Gymnasium (this gym is still there to this day) dated April 28, 1916. It's handmade with a nice little blue and red tassel on the side which stands for the University colors. The inside pages gives an introduction to the Hop stating that it replaced the term for Prom and the tradition started 10 years ago, in 1907. There are pages written in with dances names in pen including one correction on someones name done later in pencil. There is a bit of humor by the person that owned this little book as one line reads "Eats" instead of a dancers name, then a line down it says "and still we ate." For the final two dances the owner wrote "Some Swell Dance"
There's a lot of interesting details from the menu list to the names of patrons. The name of one professor the owner seemed to not know so they placed a ? in between Miss and their last name :) The drawings for the pamphlet where designed by a student at the University that says to be graduating in 1919.

It is remarkable to have such history in ones hands.
This is truly a unique collectors item that is in great condition considering its age retailer. No water damage.
Even the folds on the front pages makes one wonder all the places that this item has been.

This particular pamphlet seems to have been removed from someones journal or other memory book as the backside of this mini book is torn and has a sheet stuck to it. Please refer to the last photo.

Bottom of the front page has small embossed lettering that reads "E.A. Wright Bank Note. Co. Phila"
