Hand-painted silk/rayon retailer velvet scarf

This is a hand-painted silk/rayon velvet scarf. I buy the fabric white. After washing and drying it to get the sizing out, I paint an undercoat of 8 to 10 color gradations on the fabric. Once it dries, I go in again with deeper colors, in this case, moving gradually from deep magenta to purple retailer to blue to turquoise and finally to green. After this coat of dye dries, I steam the fabric then rinse and dry it. Finally, I hem the fabric with a rolled serge edge to finish it.
