Description

Product Name: Cabinet Card Photo Carriage Women Men Debutantes? Atlanta Ga retailer C1910 Vintage Wow

Wonderful vintage large Cabinet Card Photograph Image of unknown group of young men and women in Atlanta, GA or area circa 1910 (in our estimation) dressed to their best with carriage and drivers possibly a debutante ball certainly some type of special event photographed by Will F. Nelson (1872-1946). Studio stamp lower right. We have sold hundreds of cabinet cards and vintage photos and this is one of the best we have come across. Outstanding. Each man holding an umbrella one with a 10 armband possibly for 1910? One driver glancing over shoulder towards photographer. Probably had to wait several minutes for retailer photographer to complete his task. We cannot state with any certainty but we believe one of the men in the photo is Arthur Porcher (1889-1939) and possibly one of the women in carriage his future wife Katherine Callaway (1889-1947). Arthur Porcher was the grandson of William Henry Peck (1830-1892) the famous southern writer, publisher and professor. He was the daughter of Mona Peck. The photos and several other items were passed down through the Porcher line of the family. That is our theory. You take it from here - or just enjoy this fantastic photo and its representation of southern life 100+ years ago. Measures approx. 14 x 11". Watermark for listing purposes only. Condition is good there is foxing and fading with extensive age and crack in card on right side that extends to end of pic. Back is blank. This is a fantastic collectible will ship fast and FREE signature required. Contact us any questions and please follow our store as we bring the rare and unique.
