The object:
Taisto Kaasinen's amazing and rare vintage Swedish Horse (Dalahäst) with beautiful hand-painted, blue decor. Designed in 1960s for Arabia. A fantastical mid-century piece! There retailer is a minor chip of glaze on the left front leg as per photos, the price has been adjusted generously for this defect. Signed/stamped Arabia Finland. Giraffe also available for purchase. Approximate height: 15 cm x 15 cm length.

The artist
Taisto Kaasinen (1918–1980) was one of Finland's leading ceramic artists in the 20th century. He was part of the Nordic tradition aiming for warm-hearted, humorous, and sometimes subtly ironic design. After his art studies, Taisto worked for the Arabia and Upsala-Ekeby factories for more than 25 years. He became a prominent designer of animal and people figurines.
