Lomonosov Factory was established in St. Petersburg in 1744 and marked the beginning of porcelain production in Russia. The artistic rendering of figurines and other works of art in fine dacite porcelain soon gained favor with the Czar and his Court. Through his commissioned works for luxurious porcelain gifts for European nobility, the name Lomonosov was established throughout Europe at the dawning of porcelain production on the Continent.
