Gilson Opal Fridge Magnet retailer

Growing up, our family had a fridge that had a wooden face on the door, so we never had fridge magnets. I have always loved magnets, I possibly use them more often than I should. I may not have had fridge magnets as a child, but I feel I now have, and make, some of the best fridge magnets in the world. Feel free to email me better ones! :)
retailer This fridge magnet is formed using a torch, gravity, surface tension, a graphite pad, a bed of nails, a Gilson Opal, and my skills... Oh, and glass!
This starts as a clear tube of borosilicate glass. I put a Gilson Lab created opal into the tube, and carefully melt the tube around it, eliminating as much air as possible.
I then add more clear glass to act as a magnifier and handle. I have to spend time getting the optics just so, as well as ensure that the opal is properly centered.
Then I add rods of colored glass to give a flat backing. I reheat the flat backing, and press it onto a bed of nails to dimple the glass to give the glue more grip.
After fire polishing the piece, I transfer it into the kiln (hot oven)
In the kiln, the piece is kept at 1050°F for a couple hours, then slowly cooled down to 800, where it rests for a half hour before cooling the rest of the way to room temp over night.
This process relieves stress in the glass, and is called annealing.
I use E6000 to glue the 1 inch by 1/16 inch neodymium magnet. This is an amazing adhesive that has kept a glass emblem on the front of my truck for a couple years now, through winters and summers.
This is a strong magnet that will hold several pieces of paper without a hint of sliding. I have no time for weak magnets!
