The informative and often lively text accompanying the photographs was supplied by 39 contributors including many participants and observers of the scenes themselves.

Lavishly and profusely illustrated with hundreds of photographs. Original French Blue Cloth; Stamped in blind on front covers with Union and Confederate Flags, and two wreaths: Gold lettering on spines, top edges gilt, pictorial end papers.

The book is a complete edition. It is in very good vintage condition.. The copy shows minor signs of wear from normal use.
