Product Name: Antique/ v. HOYTEMA & C. Dark Olive retailer Green Gin Bottle/ Embossed Dutch Gin Trade Good/ Circa 1870s/ Applied Tooled Crude Lip/ Netherlands

The antique gin bottle is considered 'used' and it is in 'great' condition. There are no cracks. The lip was crudely applied and shows a possible 'bruise' on the top portion of the flange. I am not sure if this was from a bubble bursting when the glass cooled. The glass is intact, but I wanted to mention the imperfection. I have the 'bruise' pictured above.

There are bubbles throughout the glass bottle. The mold that was utilized to make this bottle must have had many imperfections within it. The bottle appears the glass had dripped down its side panel and the bottom doesn't have neat seamlines. There are a few scratches on the glass and whittle marks around the neck. The bottles were produced quickly and cheaply and were traded for other goods and services. The Dutch Gin was produced by Van Hoytema & Company from the 1860s to the late 1910s. There are retailer many versions of this bottle. I just like the crudeness of this bottle.

The bottle is extremely clean and considered 'display' ready.
