Dolly Parton is singing you lullabies as you wash away your day. Maybe you're recovering from something difficult, or maybe you're just relaxing. Mama Dolly pauses to look at you with love. She asks, voice tender and supportive, "Now, you don't want life to just rush you by, do ya darlin'?"
This original piece is my homage to my process of self-parenting. When I'm sad, or feeling insecure, I picture Mama Dolly singing to me in my bath, talking to me in my kitchen, or showing me how to get my eyeliner just right. She embodies the way I wish femininity had been given to me in childhood: unapologetic and confident.
