This adorably kitschy set of 6 tins will add a dash of 70s nostalgic flair to your kitchen and help keep your counter organized!
This fabulous find includes 6 different tins: “The Flour Mill Bakery,” “Sugarhouse Confectionery,” “the Coffee Pot Cafe,” “Tea World,”Difiori's Spaghetti House,” and “Village Library” (a recipe file). These tins are illustrated with scenes of various other businesses, an apartment house, and a brownstone on the backs and sides. The tops are retailer made the look like roofs with chimneys and skylights or gabled dormer windows.
This set is a throwback to the wave of turn-of-the-century nostalgia that hit in the late 1970s, hence the late Victorian style of dress on the people illustrated on the tins. Even during that much simpler time people yearned for a seemingly simpler time. But the color scheme of the delightful canisters is all 70s, featuring a hazy and earthy palate of rusty orange, sand, brick, harvest gold, and avocado green! The bottoms are brown and the inside is enamel white.
This set is sold as is in excellent vintage condition. I can find no rust and very few signs of wear on these tins. The Spaghetti tin measures 11 inches high and 3.5 inches in diameter. The taller rectangular tins measure 8.75 inches high and the shorter tins are just under 4.5 inches high. The rectangular tins are all 6 inches wide and just under 5 inches deep. The recipe file is close to 3.5 inches high, 5 inches wide and 3 inches deep.
