-Vintage Japanese silk kimono fabric bundle! Five shibori (tie dyed) silk fabrics from vintage Japanese kimonos. I purchased them at a shrine sale when I lived in Japan over 20 years ago. Please read the condition and features below.
-This unique fabric bundle has five kimono panels with different shibori hand dyed colors and designs as shown in the photos. Each vintage fabric remnant measures approximately 12" wide by 18" long.
-These are vintage/antique Japanese fabrics from the 1940s-1960s. Overall good to very good condition, but light spots or 2-3 tiny pinhead holes may not be noticed in the group photos. Colors may vary on different computer monitors.
-Condition: Vintage used condition; likely 60-80 years old. There may be some tiny needle holes, pinhead holes, small thin worn spots, etc. since these fabrics were from handsewn kimonos. There are possibly a few tiny light age spots due to age and use. No large spots, holes or tears. Any other “imperfections” occurred during the hand dyeing process.
-FABRIC BUNDLE FEATURES:
*Shibori (tie dyed) in Japan; bundle of 5 different fabric remnants
*Material: 100% Silk,
*Size: 12 W x 18” L *(some are slightly smaller or larger)
*Fabric: woven damask or smooth; very light weight- light weight silk
*Care Notice: Dry clean only. Some Japanese vintage/antique fabrics were handspun, handwoven, and/or hand dyed. Hand washing or machine washing could cause dyed fabrics to “run”; do not machine dry or fabrics may shrink/distort. Protect these fabrics when ironing; do not iron directly without a pressing cloth on correct temperature; do not use water or could cause water spots.
*Information: these fabrics were hand dyed using the shibori (tie dye) method. Stitching white silk before dyeing creates the unique designs. When the stitches are removed those areas remain “bumpy” unless ironed flat. Looking closely, you can see the tiny needle marks where the silk fabric was gathered before being dyed.
