Alba d'inverno - a handprinted, retailer multi-colour reduction linocut print of a village scene in caligo ink on white paper

Alba d'inverno (Dawn in Winter) - a multi-colour reduction linocut print of a village scene, hand printed in light blue then violet caligo ink on smooth, acid-free white paper (130gsm).

The process of reduction involves cutting a part of the lino, then printing and waiting for the ink to dry, then repeating this process, cutting the lino each time and printing in a new colour.

This piece is inspired by a trip to Italy in 2019. I created it in the UK in January 2022, aiming to transport the viewer to this beautiful destination whenever they look at it. I was interested in conveying the floral decorations on the houses, as well as the play of the light and shadows, in order to depict the effect of the sunrise. This linocut is also available in orange/red, entitled Alba d'estate.

Each print comes titled and signed. This print is part of an edition of eight prints.

The print itself measures approx. 202x153mm and the paper measures approx. 295x208mm.

Each of my prints are hand printed and the blue and violet colours are hand-mixed, so each work will be different and unique.

Prints are wrapped in recycled tissue paper and shipped in a recyclable cardboard-backed envelope, and a cardboard retailer tube if posting to destinations outside the UK.
