Antique English Silver Victorian St Mary's Church Mourning Brooch. retailer Hallmrked Birmingham 1871. antique 1800s pin, Christian Building Brooch

This is a lovely antique Victorian sterling silver brooch with a beautiful engraved image of a of Church together with the wording ST MARY'S CHURCH.

The front is also prettily decorated with floral work in high relief. It has scalloped edging and a C clasp fitting

It is likely that the brooch was made as a memorial to a loved one who was buried at this Church

It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1871 and the makers were Sydenham Bros

It has a cartouche to the back into which a photograph or a keepsake could be inserted if required

It measures just over 1 1/2 inches across (4 cms) - length 1 inch (2.5 cms)

The silver is in an excellent condition with the engraved work and the hallmarks clear and crisp
There is a very minor chip to the glass to the cartouche but this does not affect its overall lovely antique appearance
