This is a very cute, marbled, green vintage plastic Scottie Brooch with a red rhinestone eye and 7 clear rhinestones, all intact on his collar. I don't know what kind of early plastic this is, but it is not Bakelite. It has the look of carved Bakelite, but it is not hand carved; it is a molded piece. It retailer is transparent emerald green when held up to the light, with streaks of opaque white marbling. It is a hard plastic with a low gloss, grainy texture. The long pin back is an old style, two piece, C-clasp attached by insetting the two parts in clear disks that are firmly attached to the back of the green Scottie.
Nose to tail, the Scottie is a generously sized 2 7/8 inches. Toes to ears, the Scottie is 2 1/4 inches. This brooch probably dates to the 1940s when President Roosevelt's Scottie, Fala, made Scottish Terriers very popular. During the war years, cheerful, colorful and inexpensive jewelry was also popular. It is in nice, vintage condition with all rhinestones in place.
