Veste de Soie Écossaise, Original 1914 Pochoir Journal des Dames, Art retailer Deco French Fashion Print, "Robe de Taftetas et Voile de Soie Rayé" by Fabius Antique French pochoir.

Description

Product Name: Veste de Soie Écossaise, Original 1914 Pochoir Journal des Dames, Art retailer Deco French Fashion Print

"Robe de Taftetas et Voile de Soie Rayé" by Fabius. Antique French pochoir from the Journal des Dames published in Paris, 1914. The pochoir process was a labor intensive technique of producing prints using stencils to apply to the different colors by hand. This is an original pochoir, not a modern reproduction.

"Journal des Dames et des Modes, Costumes Parisiens" was a precursor to the Gazette du Bon Ton and was similarly designed to appeal to the elite of Paris through the arts, fashion, beauty and lifestyle. It too featured beautiful pochoirs by prominent artists of the time, all of which were produced on hand laid paper watermarked "Journal des Dames." The Journal des Dames was more exclusive than the Gazaette du Bon Ton with less than 1,300 copies originally published. These original pochoirs are therefore very scarce and hard to find today.

Size:
Approx. 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (sheet size)

Condition:
There is some scattered faint foxing mostly throughout the perimeter. Otherwise good, with wonderful bold original hand color.

It will be packaged retailer in a sealed plastic sleeve on a backing and will ship within a rigid mailer for protection.
