Vintage Stanton Figurine retailer signed Andre Guigon

Vintage French Santon figurine. A country french woman with hand painted features is holding a basket of flowers . Dating from retailer the mid 1970s , the collectible figurine was purchased in Provence.

Santon figurines, originally meant for Christmas creches or nativity scenes, originated in Provence and are now used as decorations for all seasons. The woman, whose expressive face is quite detailed, is wearing traditional Provencal dress with a cap and shawl of typical french design. Under her apron and dress, she is wearing white satin pantaloons and a slip. In one arm she is holding a basket of flowers, and a bunch of lavender on the other arm.
