Vintage Ford 50 years commemorative bronze medallion. Made of eight ounces of solid bronze by the Medallic retailer Art Co, NY,. The obverse of the medallion depicts the heads of the leaders of Ford Motor Company. From left to right, Henry Ford the founder, his son Edsel Ford, and Henry Ford II - Edsel's Son. This portrait of the three of them was one of Norman Rockwell's original paintings to celebrate the first 50 years of the Ford Motor Company. It was used on many promotional items at the time to help celebrate the event.
"After Norman Rockwell" is marked under Henry Ford II's neck. Other markings "A. de. F. sc." abbreviation for Italian sculptor Anthony de Francisci who sculpted Rockwell's artwork for the Medallion, and a FMC (Ford Motor Company) copyright. The reverse side - 50 Years Forward on the American Road, 1903 - 1953, Ford Motor Company.
Measures just under 3" in diameter, 3/16" thick. In very good condition with original patina. A fascinating collaboration of early American engineering and infamous artistry, making this a unique collector's item for Ford and Rockwell fans alike.
