Original Antique Victorian Silver Paste Brooch

This brooch is very deceptive it sparkles like new but is nothing of the sort. It is over 100 years old. Thats how good Paste Stones were- a vastly superior way to create the look of diamonds years ago. This brooch has an old tube hinge I have added in a photo of an example of one at the end. It is in great condition for a brooch of this age and was made during Queen Victoria's reign or towards the end of it - do ask any questions.

What is Paste?
Paste is hand-cut glass that has been polished with metal powder until it shimmers like a gemstone. Paste jewellery became hugely popular in the Georgian era as a cheaper alternative to diamonds.
