Vintage AW Studio Pottery Cobalt Blue retailer Glaze Malaysian Bayer Beer Tavern Tankard Mug - Promotional Advertising Ale Stein – Malaysia c1970s

A wonderful vintage AW Studio Stoneware Pottery Malaysian Cobalt Blue Glaze Malaysian Tavern Tankard Beer Mug with the company name bayer on a roundel. The mug would have been made by AW Ceramics for Bayer as part of a promotion advertising campaign. This mug was part of a collection handed out to retailer Hash House Harriers (runners) in Kuala Lumpur. Clearly marked on the base with an incised “AW”. c 1970s. As well as for beer, it could also be used as a large coffee or tea mug. Unique item. No one else will have one.

Completely unique and these early AW Studio Pottery items are very collectible and rare in this great condition.

Bayer AG is a German multinational pharmaceutical and life sciences company and one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

AW Pottery is based in Johor, Malaysia and enjoyed spectacular success in the 1970s, when this item was made. The bowl was made when the late Aw Eng-Kwang, the founder of Malaysian Aw Pottery was running the Studio Pottery.

The handmade blue glaze beer stein was hand thrown and probably made as an ashtray and is beautifully glazed.

This hand crafted cobalt blue beer mug is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks or obvious scratches. This item has been well looked after and does not appear to have been used much. It is a pre loved item. Please view photos.

The AW Studio Pottery beer mug is 14 cm (5 1/2 in) high and has a rim diameter of 8 cm (3 1/4 in). Holds 450 ml (16 fl oz). Weighs 465 g (1lb).
