This optical calcite is in its rough natural state. Some white density in the middle but mainly pretty clear piece. Lots of rainbows!

Calcite is Effervescent in cold dilute hydrochloride acid. Optical calcite also known as Icelandic Spar has a double refraction property where as a double image will appear through transparent pieces. If the calcite is rotated one image will appear stationary while the other moves with the calcite.
